Notre Dame de Paris

Notre Dame de Paris means ‘Our Lady of Paris’

This renowned cathedral is one of the largest medieval catholic churches in the world. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Paris and the church building is a fine example of French Gothic Architecture. It is believed that the Cathedral’s original construction was completed by 1345. This cathedral holds a superior place in Catholicism as it is the home of three of the most precious relics of the religion: Jesus Christ’s Crown of Thorns, a fragment of the True Cross, and one of His Holy Nails.

Victor Hugo’s famous novel ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ which is published in 1833 is centered on this cathedral. There are several chapels inside the cathedral. Bear in mind that this cathedral has been a place for worship for nearly 1000 years. Don’t forget to pay a little donation and light a candle and say a prayer for your family and loved ones.
