Our Experience
We have stayed at this beautiful holiday resort during March 2017 for a short break. We really wanted to have a relaxing holiday this time as opposed to our usual ‘city breaks’ which is often fully packed with activities and always on the go! You need to stay places like this once in a while to get rid of the junk from your head so that you can start thinking clearly again! Read below to learn more about the beautiful Rocha Brava Resort.
Rocha Brava village resort is situated in Carvoeiro, one of the beautiful towns of Algarve region. The coastal town of Carvoeiro and the beautiful sandy beaches are only within the walkable distance. There are apartments and villas depending on your budget, but some villas come with breathtaking views of the Atlantic ocean with a private pool and sunbed. The resort area is really vast with 4 pools (one heated pool in winter months), inground pools, fitness centre, beauty centre, restaurant, mini supermarket etc. The entire resort grounds are kept well maintained and is perfect for an evening stroll.
The villa we stayed in was very clean and had spacious rooms arranged in typical Portuguese style. The stairs outside of the villa will take you to the terrace where you can enjoy the cool breeze in the evenings with a stunning view of the resort. Reception staff is extremely pleasant and helpful and they are happy to arrange various excursions depends on your interest (boat trip is highly popular). The cliff walks are easily accessible and the view of the ocean from the top is truly amazing!
We have rented a car ( via Zest car rentals) from the Faro/ Algarve Airport and drove to Carvoeiro. We found doing this was quite economical and friendly after we had done the same in the UK after hiring an executive car from SC Vehicle Hire. There are plenty of parking places allocated for each villa/apartment if you are planning to rent a car. Our apartment had a good size kitchen with all the utensils and also a washing machine. As mentioned before, the resort has a small supermarket on site for all your basic needs but you have to pay that extra price for the convenience. If you have a rental car, there is Aldi and Apolonia supermarkets within the driveable distance (8min drive). We purchased local produce from the nearby Apolonia market and cooked dinner during our stay, but there is a restaurant on site if you don’t fancy cooking. There are few restaurants outside the resort as well but we haven’t tried those hence cannot comment on them. Here is the address to the complex where Aldi and Apolonia are located: Apolónia Supermercados, EN 124 1 Urbanização do Gramital Lote 2, 8400-428 Lagoa, Portugal.
Lovely place for a family holiday but I am not sure if its suitable for children as there is not much on site to entertain them. There is a courtesy bus going to the town few times a day but no service in the evenings. If you want to take a break from the busy schedules and enjoy a quiet holiday in a beautiful location then this place is ideal. This resort operates even in winter if you want to escape from the cold weather and catch some winter sun!
