Bluebell woods, Upperford Copse- Forest of Bere

Forest of Bere has various walking trails and it’s great to visit at any time of the year. On a special note, If you want to see mother nature spreading its blue carpet, then do visit between the middle of April- Beginning of May to see a stunning display of bluebells!

Address and Postcode (Parking)

Heath Road, off the A32 Meon Valley Road, Wickham. The nearest postcode to Car Park is PO17 6JZ. Please note that this postcode is not the exact location, there are various entrances to the Forest of Bere. To get the best view of bluebells, drive further down the Heath road towards A32 past ‘Woodend entrance’ towards ‘Upperford Copse’ car park (see the photo below)

Entry

Entrance to the walking trails are free, but parking charges apply. See the photo below and take some money with you. If you are a regular visitor and enjoy the walking trails, the Forestry Commission offer an annual Discovery pass for  £38. You can use it to park free on any sites in Forest of Bere and West Walk. See their website for more information and follow the link for ‘West Walk Discovery Pass’.

Other info:

  • Dogs are allowed 🙂
  • Nearest toilet facilities and rent-able BBQ areas are in the entrance called West walk
  • There is a snack bar which offers hot and cold drinks and ice creams etc in the west walk (opening times vary and depends on weather)
  • Heath Road, which cuts through the middle of Forest of Bere is a fast route, therefore please take care while crossing.
